Our New Orleans

A recent benefit album for the storm victims called "Our New Orleans" has a song on it which summarizes how many of us felt during the aftermath of the storm- "Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans". For those of you who have been here, you truly understand the lyrics of this song. For those of us who live here, we take great pride in our city and hope for the future. After the storms, we take it one day at a time, try to keep our sense of humor and work to rebuild the city we love.

New Orleans is many things. Some are well known- Mardi Gras and JazzFest. Some are known only by the locals- Red Beans on Monday and the ways around the parade routes. One thing that New Orleans truly is----- a great American city. While the food and music are unique, it is the people who have made and will make this city great, again. From our stubborn determination to make it through the morass of FEMA regulations to our Joyeux de Vie, New Orleanians and those who live in the surrounding areas have both the strength and will to rebuild this city and region.

The color and character of this city and is citizens ranges from the Krewe de Vieux's recent Mardi Gras parade theme- "C'est Levee" to the jokes about our "Chocolate City". For those of you who have not returned, come on home. For those who have visited in the past, come see us again. And for those of you who have never tasted Oysters Bienville and strolled down Bourbon Street, you do not know what you have missed. Come on down- the waters fine!!!!
